In flames
check out the link above.
I'm not a master of music, but i do have some genuine opinions about it. This song by Swedish band In flames, "Only for the weak" is an example of imbalance of expression in music. No issues about band's rich "melophonic" musical abilities.
Every human expression has a type of music associated with it. A particular type of music triggers a particular expression or feeling. But, the fear of cliched sound has made musicians to experiment with the amalgamation of various types of music.
Human brain has something known as "mental co-ordinates" which relates with everything we see, hear, smell, taste, feel, and even think. When we hear a piece of music, these co-ordinates are the ones that triggers related feelings. When two types of music is mixed, like in the In flames song, in which aggressive and Pacific music have been amalgamated which does not have any co-ordinates associated with it.And when these co-ordinates change, the brain does not recognize what is fed through the sensory organs immediately. It has to get tuned to the alienated co-ordinates.
And when the mental co-ordinates are forced to change, the original co-ordinates get erased. And eventually from the entire human species. This is largely due to our tendency towards constant urge to experience something different.
This is what drives the evolutionary mechanism. The species which will evolve from humans may not even recognize some of the feelings. Like happiness that comes from honesty :)
So... Listen to more of Floyd and Dylan to keep yourself intact!

The in depth observation into doom metal and the human psyche is thought provoking.. The concept of mixing two opposites to get a new sensation is perhaps what 99% of the ppl seek. Many try and get trapped into the web of narcotics, just to experience this sensation , or "high".. Well, if u wanna experience a high, there is no better medium then music..Excellent article Sampath..
